Today, University electoral debates kick off! Hosted by Bocconi TV in collaboration with Tra i Leoni and Radio Bocconi, representatives will start debating about their ideas & programs. The first event is taking place at 15.30 today, when Marco Lecchi (Blab) and Francesco Toti (Team) will discuss about the Faculty Council. Debates will be streamed live on Bocconi TV Youtube channel. EU and Turkey resumed talkings over renewing their immigration agreement. Earlier this week, EU representative travelled to Ankara to meet Turskish leader Recep T. Erdogan, in what became celebre as the sofagate. Why were Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel there though? The so-called ‘Migrant Deal’ between the European Union and Turkey is now expiring. For the last 5 years, the EU committed to giving Turkey funds in exchange for Turkey managing border control as to reduce illegal crossing while improving migrants’ conditions in the country. Now, the EU is studying a new financing plan destined to Ankara, with special attention for human rights, as pointed out by VdL.

Prince Philip has died aged 99. Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday that the Duke of Edinburgh has died. The royal family has asked people to consider making a donation to a charity instead of leaving flowers in memory of the duke. Funerals will be held privately.

England to reopen pubs today. Pubs, restaurants, gyms and many other activities are resuming their activities 0n Monday 12th. After a gloomy year, both socially and financially, this could be the very first step towards normal life for England, whose vaccination campaign proved to be successful so far.

Daunte Wright shooting: Protests near Minneapolis after police killing. Tear gas has been fired and a curfew imposed amid angry protests after police fatally shot Daunte Wright, a 20 year old black male in a traffic stop. Hundreds of protesters chanting Daunte Wright’s name engaged in a stand-off with riot police late on Sunday outside the police headquarters in Brooklyn center.

Iran “to take revenge” for attack on Natanz nuclear site. Iran’s foreign minister has said his country will take revenge for an attack on a key nuclear site, for which it has blamed Israel. Israel has not commented, but public radio cited intelligence sources as saying it was a Mossad cyber operation.

St Vincent volcano: Eruptions likely in coming days, experts warn. The caribbean island of St Vincent is likely to see further volcanic eruptions and ash fall over the coming days. The La Soufriere volcano first erupted on Friday, blanketing the island in a layer of ash and forcing more than 16,000 people to evacuate their homes. Smaller explosions continued over the weekend, causing power cuts and disrupting water supplies. Emergency officials have described the landscape as a “battle zone”.

Alibaba accepts record China fine and vows to change. Regulators charged Chinese tech giant Alibaba a $2.8bn fine after a probe determined it had abused its market position for years. On Monday, they said that it accepted the penalty imposed by the country’s anti-monopoly regulator. The fine amounts to 4% of the company’s 2019 domestic revenue.

Il vaccino Johnson & Johnson arriva in Italia, ma è subito allarme sul numero di dosi. Sono più di 450 mile le fiale di vaccino Johnson&Johnson che dovrebbero arrivare in Italia entro fine aprile. Tuttavia, è già giunta notizia che la casa farmaceutica americana potrebbe tagliare la produzione del vaccino in maniera consistente nelle prossime settimane, ma non è chiaro se e come ciò impatterà UE e Italia. Lo staff di Figliuolo rassicura: “siamo in linea con il piano vaccinale, a fine aprile arriveremo a 500 mila somministrazioni al giorno”.

Covid, Italia in arancione. Quasi tutta Italia (con l’eccezione di Campania, Puglia, Sardegna e Valle d’Aosta) passa in arancione. Otto studenti su dieci potranno tornare a scuola.

Numerosi sono stati i suoi impegni: distribuzione di stampa clandestina, consegna dei medicinali ai partigiani in montagna, lotta costante contro il regime nazifascista, lotta in prima linea nelle fabbriche durante la Resistenza, fino ad arrivare ai giorni nostri, con i discorsi ai giovani e nelle scuole. Covid: IoApro, forse sit-in a Piazza del Popolo a Roma. È stata prevista in data odierna (12/04) la manifestazione del gruppo IoApro a Roma, il cui obiettivo è dimostrare che i ristoratori sono in grado di riaprire e continuare la loro attività, pur rispettando le norme di prevenzione anti-Covid. Sono previsti oltre 20 mila partecipanti e per questo la Questura, dopo aver negato la sua approvazione per svariati luoghi della Capitale, forse concederà ai manifestanti Piazza del Popolo, i grado di accogliere più persone.

Addio Rousseau. Il Movimento 5 Stelle lavorerà a una sua piattaforma, abbandonando quindi la storica Rousseau (di proprietà dell’omonima associazione controllata da Davide Casaleggio). La mossa arriva dopo un ultimatum dell’associazione, che aveva richiesto il pagamento degli arretrati dovuti dal Movimento, ma i malumori erano già nell’aria da tempo.
