That we live in a world that is regulated by rules that guide and constrain our individual and collective behavior may come off as not only obvious but even desirable. After all, it is thanks to the way that rules shape our everyday interaction with the world that surrounds us that we are able to have an organized society, in which we can contextualize our role as students, as citizens of today and tomorrow, as political and economic actors and have an idea of the gold standard that we should aspire to both as individuals and as collective entities. It is hardly that simple, though. The picture is often way more complicated than it seems, and examining society through the way that rules, both written and unwritten, shape our individual lives often provides a lens that can make us reflect on certain intricacies that we may take for granted but that deserve to be questioned in order to be understood.
That is precisely what we try to do in the present issue of Tra i Leoni. We want to delve into how the terms and conditions that we formally or implicitly consent to every day affect us, how stepping away from those rules is viewed and how it should be viewed. Should universities take a formal stance on global geopolitical phenomena that are inevitably bound to affect our present and future, such as the war between Israel and Palestine? How should climate activists who protest against the depletion of natural resources worldwide and global warming by damaging art pieces worldwide be treated? Would having a minimum wage really act as a formal instrument against poverty in Italy and are there any downsides? What are the implications of the increasingly globalized and technological society that we live in for our loneliness?
These are all questions that we tried to answer within the present issue, which includes reflections, satire, interviews, our first collaboration with EU & You and the pictures that our readers submitted for our very first photography contest that we recently launched on our social media accounts, titled “Hidden places around Bocconi.” We are really proud to present you with the results of our work, and we hope you enjoy it and that it leaves you with something: a thought, an image, a quote that enriches you and that you can bring with you.
Che viviamo in un mondo regolato da regole che guidano e vincolano il nostro comportamento individuale e collettivo può sembrare non solo ovvio ma anche auspicabile. Dopotutto, è grazie al modo in cui le regole plasmano la nostra interazione quotidiana con il mondo che ci circonda che siamo in grado di avere una società organizzata, in cui possiamo contestualizzare il nostro ruolo come studenti, come cittadini di oggi e domani, come attori politici ed economici e avere un’idea del modello a cui dovremmo aspirare sia come individui che come collettività. Tuttavia, la realtà è spesso molto più complicata di quanto sembri, e esaminare la società attraverso il modo in cui le regole, scritte e non scritte, plasmano la nostra vita individuale spesso fornisce una prospettiva che può farci riflettere su certe complessità che potremmo dare per scontate ma che meritano di essere messe in discussione per essere davvero comprese.
È esattamente ciò che tentiamo di fare nel presente numero di Tra i Leoni. Vogliamo approfondire come i termini e le condizioni a cui formalmente o implicitamente acconsentiamo ogni giorno ci influenzino, come concepiamo l’allontanarsi da quelle regole e come dovremmo volerlo concepire. Le università dovrebbero prendere formalmente posizioni su fenomeni geopolitici globali inevitabilmente destinati a influenzare il nostro presente e futuro come la guerra tra Israele e la Palestina? Come dovrebbero essere trattati gli attivisti per il clima che protestano contro la deplezione delle risorse naturali in tutto il mondo e il riscaldamento globale imbrattando opere d’arte? Avere un salario minimo è davvero uno strumento che in Italia potrebbe diminuire la povertà e ci sono degli svantaggi? Quali sono le implicazioni della società sempre più globalizzata e tecnologica in cui viviamo per la nostra solitudine?
Queste sono solo alcune delle domande a cui abbiamo cercato di rispondere nel presente numero, che include riflessioni, satira, interviste, la nostra prima collaborazione con EU & You e le immagini che i nostri lettori hanno inviato per il nostro primo concorso fotografico che abbiamo recentemente lanciato sui nostri account sui social media, intitolato “Luoghi nascosti intorno a Bocconi.” Siamo davvero orgogliosi di presentarvi i risultati del nostro lavoro, e speriamo vivamente che vi piaccia e che vi lasci qualcosa che potete portare con voi, un’immagine, un pensiero, una citazione, un’immagine.
