The end of a journey always implies the beginning of a new one. As the Bocconi campus roars back to life, full of excitement for what this new semester has in store, our summer issue The Wandering Lions comes to a close.
The bittersweet feeling of seeing classmates and friends leaving for the summer, each off onto their own exciting journeys, fundamentally inspired this issue #109 of our newspaper. We wanted to piece together the fragments of the places that have left an undeniable imprint on us as individuals, whether that meant journeying home or to far off adventures this summer. We liked to imagine that even the loyal lions of the Sarfatti n.25 building, to which our magazine takes its name, had left their spots at some point in July, nothing else left to guard, and had joined us on this metaphorical collective journey.
An infallible writing team has moulded the narrative of a world of exploration outside Bocconi and outside Milan. Over the past two months they have carried us across countries and across borders giving us a glimpse into the world as they perceive it. I thank them for entrusting us with their words and their stories.
Now, the lions are back, standing still as if they’d never left. As our summer journey ends, on a more personal note, my journey as Editorial Director of Tra i Leoni also comes to a close. It seems a fitting coincidence. I am incredibly grateful for how this journey has changed me, and for the stories I’ll carry with me. Whether that is working late with an infallible Monday Briefing team to get our weekly issue ready for publication, or bridging thoughts and common experiences to create the joint article “Good Talk: Conversations on the unique bond between language and identity” that meant so much to me and my fellow authors, or, even ending a Tra i Leoni general meeting just in time to watch live together the result of the 2025 conclave – you just can’t plan for this. I am incredibly grateful to the people that make up this community and the spark that they carry with them.
It has been an absolute honour to go on this adventure with all of you.
Having lived both in Italy and the UK, I enjoy exploring how multiculturalism affects our personal identities. I use language, writing and journalism as tools to decipher the world around me. And, I will of course never turn down a lively convo about current news. With a degree in Economic and Social sciences, I’m now pursuing a master’s in Politics and Policy Analysis.
